  3. Bus from the canal to Puerto Ayora: $5 USD

Alternative option: private cab from the canal to Puerto Ayora: $25 USD

Average price per night in budget hotels with breakfast included: between $25 and $35 USD

Total estimate for the first day (taxes + transportation + accommodation)

Ecuadorians: approximately $60 USD- Foreigners from South America (countries mentioned above): approximately $150 USD- Foreigners from other countries: approximately $250 USD

Useful recommendations:

We recommend that you bring appropriate clothing for mountain weather, as the route between the airport and Puerto Ayora crosses the highlands of Santa Cruz Island. You can take advantage of this trip to visit one of the ranches in the area, where you can walk through the vegetation, observe giant tortoises and enjoy a local tea or coffee.

To make this stop, you can negotiate directly in Baltra with a cab driver for a tour that includes transportation to Puerto Ayora with an intermediate visit to the ranch. The usual price for this service is around $40 USD.

Our tour packages include personalized transportation from the airport and complete itinerary planning, so you can relax and enjoy from the first moment.

Tips for transportation from the airport

On the “Lobito” bus from the airport, try to sit on the left side to enjoy a unique view: you will pass by a kind of river and cliffs with unforgettable scenery. If those seats are already taken, it's worth waiting for the next bus (they leave frequently). It is a memorable way to start your Galapagos experience.

Suggestion for the first sunset

Once you arrive at your accommodation (between 15:00 and 16:00), we recommend you to visit the only restaurant on the island with a direct view of the sunset. This place offers a private beach and an excellent selection of local food.
